Day 8

Here we are at Day 8, and what a great day it was. First we started off travelling to Coleraine to visit the farmers market. Owen snatched up some delicious cookies and mom couldn’t resist the spiced Olives and various sauces, Dad purchased some local cheeses and Liam dived in to a mile high Quiche pie.  We came back to the cottage and sampled the cheeses for lunch. When we were all fuelled up, Ruth led us on our next adventure off to Giants causeway.  Ruth led us along the beach where the scenery was breathtaking.  The path led to a small glen near the ocean which contained a tidal cave where Ruth has being visiting since she was a child.  The cave was difficult to get to but we managed to arrive with only a few bumps and bruises.  Once inside, we took in the beautiful scenery of the cave.  The cave curved around to the ocean where it had carved out the cave over the years due to the tide.  It reminded me of some smugglers cove where they might have hidden their treasure.  Once we were done exploring the cave, we proceeded to carry on up   the path to the Giants Causeway.  We passed the tram-way that has been in use for years from the Giants Causeway to Bushmill’s.  It’s still run by a coal fired steam engine.  The path carried on to the Giants Causeway our final destination.  We arrived at the causeway and pictures do not do it justice, if you can you should visit this World Heritage Site.  The rain subsided enough that Ruth was able to point out the Mull of Kyntyre across the bay in Scotland (the same one Paul McCartney sang about) We made our way back and had a cup of tea with Ruth before we made a very fond farewell.  Ruth and John have been the very best of hosts and we will not soon forget their generously and kindness.  Tonight we are cooking our first meal in Ireland and will relax in the cottage before taking on more adventures tomorrow. “Cheers” Is anybody out there?  I don’t see many comments?
